Poster Presentation Guidelines

Each horizontal poster board measures four feet high by seven feet wide. Your poster should fit comfortably within these dimension. You are welcome to bring handouts if you wish.  Pins will be supplied for you to affix your poster to the board.

You will be assigned a poster number that will indicate the location of your poster. The location and poster board number for your presentation will be sent to you prior to the conference.

Poster boards will be ready for set-up by 3:00 PM on Wednesday, January 31st in Ballroom D. Presenters are expected to arrange their material no later than 4:30 PM that afternoon.

The Poster Session is from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, the 31st. Presenters are requested to be available during the poster judging to answer questions and discuss their work with attendees.

Judging of posters will be conducted by all attendees to the conference. Each attendee will have the opportunity to cast votes for up to three posters.

If you have more than one poster and they are not side-by-side, plan to spread your time over all poster presentations and enlist your co-authors to be present at other posters. You may wish to add a note on the poster board as to what time you will be present.

Please plan to leave your poster in place until at least 9:00 AM on February 1. An informal poster viewing session will take place that morning from 7:00 AM until 10:00 AM. You need not be present for this viewing, and you are asked to be certain to remove your poster no later than 10:00 AM Thursday, February 1st.

Tips for an effective poster presentation:

  • Use graphics over text whenever possible. In general, effective posters have more graphical displays than text.
  • Communicate your key findings only. Do not try to include an entire manuscript on your poster.
  • Please use font sizes that can be read from a distance; 24pt font is the smallest recommended font size for the main text of your poster.

For questions concerning your poster presentation, kindly contact Mark Krumm.
