Abstracts Tips

How long should my abstract be?

The quick answer is 6000 characters, but it includes images and tables in the count. Here are the full details:

  • 6000 characters is the maximum for the text of your submission.
    • Including: spaces, title, authors, institutions, objectives, introduction, methods, results, conclusions, acknowledgements, references, equations, tables, images, and keywords. Tables, images and equations will calculate character number based on size.
    • Not Including: presenting author brief biographical summaries (bios) or the abstract summary that will be used in the conference program.

How do I add tables and images, and how can I tell the number of characters each consume?

At the very bottom of Step 1 in the abstract submission program (where you will enter almost all of the information on your abstract), there is an area to add a table, and another to add an image. When you upload these items, you also have the chance to add a caption. As soon as the file is uploaded, the system will calculate and report the number of characters counted against your total of 6000 each image consumed. The image below shows a screenshot of the upload area with important sections highlighted.

May I submit more than one abstract?

Yes! The limit is a total of six abstracts. Should you have more than one accepted, the Scientific Program Committee will make sure to schedule your presentations accordingly.

Do I need to register before hearing if my abstract has been accepted?

No. The scheduled date for notifying authors is November 20th, 2017. Registration rates remain at their lowest level until December 15, 2017, giving you ample time to register for the conference after you learn if your abstract has been accepted.

I still have questions. Who can I contact?
