New York City Syndromic Surveillance Transition from SAS to R Studio

Description

This presentation will discuss the NYC syndromic group’s transition from SAS to R Studio as our primary tool for data management, analysis, and visualization.  Rationale and challenges will be highlighted, including the packages we selected. An example of our visualizations will be shared.

Presenter

Robert Mathes, MPH is an epidemiologist at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and has served as the director of the Syndromic Surveillance Unit for the past 6 years.
