The ISDS Board of Directors is excited to announce that Shandy Dearth, MPH has accepted the ISDS Executive Director position effective December 6, 2016.

Ms. Dearth comes to ISDS from the Marion County, Indiana Public Health Department where she served as the Epidemiology Administrator for the last 4 years.  In that role, she authored and managed grants for surveillance and refugee health and led a variety of special projects and collaborations on issues such as PHAB accreditation, quality improvement and surveillance for antimicrobial resistance.  Shandy mentored numerous graduate students, interns and fellows and cultivated strong partnerships with academic researchers to assess and improve the health in Marion County.
The Executive Director Search Committee was impressed by Dearth's record and her strong interest in broadening her impact to the larger ISDS Community of Practice.  The ISDS Board of Directors looks forward to working with Shandy and the ISDS team to support, strengthen and nurture collaborations among public health practitioners, researchers and industry partners to advance the science and practice of disease surveillance internationally across human, animal and environmental domains.

Shandy's first day as our Executive Director will be at the 2016 ISDS Conference. Please register for the ISDS conference and meet Shandy in person on December 6, 2016 in Atlanta!
