[Title] International Public Health Conference Announcement | Please Share

The 17th International Society for Disease Surveillance Annual Conference is coming to San Diego, January 29-February 1, 2019. The four-day event includes 200 presentations, a special One Health Symposium, keynote lectures and hands-on workshops. I am writing to ask if you would be so kind as to share the news of this conference with your members and post the information to any forums you may find appropriate.

Here are the key details:

Theme: Harnessing Data Science to Improve Population Health and Public Health Surveillance

The International Society for Disease Surveillance (ISDS) conference is the premier event dedicated to the advancement of the science and practice of biosurveillance. Every year, the ISDS conference draws approximately 400 professionals from a broad range of disciplines to learn the latest achievements, analytic methods, best practices, conceptual frameworks, and technical innovations in the rapidly evolving field of disease surveillance.

Approximately 200 authors will give oral, lightning, roundtable, panel and poster presentations over the course of the four-day event.  Additionally, workshops on topics such as ESSENSE, R, opioid and disaster surveillance are included.

Who should attend? Persons engaged in public health surveillance, data science and informatics in a public health context, policy-makers and implementers of disease, injury and disaster surveillance should consider attending.

See the abstracts from the 2018 conference here in the Online Journal of Public Health Informatics: http://ojphi.org/ojs/index.php/ojphi/issue/view/593/showToc

Interested authors may read the Call for Abstracts and submit abstracts for consideration at http://healthsurveillance.org/page/2019abstracts. The submission deadline is September 14, 2018. Special awards and discount registrations are available to student authors.

The 17th International Society for Disease Surveillance (ISDS) Annual Conference is coming to San Diego, January 29-February 1, 2019. The four-day event includes 200 presentations, a special One Health Symposium, keynote lectures and hands-on workshops.  There are three different opportunities for universities

  • to have students submit abstracts in our competition which awards free registration and hotel accommodations at the event
  • for faculty and students alike to submit abstracts for presentation, and
  • for you to promote your graduate degree and certificate programs.

ISDS is committed to supporting the work of extraordinary graduate students engaged in fields related to public health surveillance. Every year, we award two free registrations plus hotel accommodations to two top student researchers, and offer deeply discounted registration rates to ten runners up.

I am writing to ask if you would be so kind as to share the news of this conference with your students and faculty or post the information to any listserves or forums you may find appropriate.

And if you would like to feature your graduate degree and certificate programs at our conference with an exhibit, kindly contact me. The cost to exhibit is actually less than standard registration prices (it's just $700 and includes attendance at the conference) because we want educational partners present at the event.
